Dead Bug

Oh, my. I think our mothers-in-law are cut from the very same heavy-duty lawn bag.

Every year she gives us the free magnets that come from her optometrist's office, and the free calendars from her bank. One year, as a special Christmas treat, she gave Jeff a size XXXL tee shirt with a puff-paint picture of an eagle that someone donated to the library where she worked. (He wears a Medium.)

However, my mother-in-law is an absolute peach, and it sounds like yours is as well.

I vote for just giving him the pie next year, no matter what else she gives him. Her heart's in the right place, and I guess that's what's important. Congrats on making it through the first 6 years!

He'll always remember a homemade pie, the rest will fade away. Gotta tell you, I love your MIL, she sounds wonderful....and practical ;)

you know, this is good for your son :-). Gift giving has gotten insane recently in our families. We all have more money than we grew up with, and there's so much to buy. I recently told someone that we had to buy a new house to contain all the little plastic toys.

BTW, this is everyone's fault in my family, including mine. I am currently eying the "princess of the world" barbie dolls. Very very bad, but I'll probably end up buying them.

When your son gets older, hopefully he will catch on and give his grandmother a money envelope and ask her to fill it.

She does sound sweet, though.
