LOL- you have described my neighborhood/son's pre-school to a tee. So far, no one has been that annoying, but I'm sure it will happen eventually. FWIW, I don't think you are a misanthrope. I'm glad to know I'm not the only one that finds excessiveness (of any variety) extremely annoying.

I vote for "just plain nuts."

I am sorry you had to deal with that 'lady'. People are friggin' crazy.

I hate groups that have to have endless committees for every little thing. Just one of the reasons I dropped out of our local MOMS club.

Another vote for "Some people are just plain nuts."

My tolerance for people, especially women, who take every aspect of their child's development as seriously as possible, such that they invent problems when none come immediately to hand, is dropping by the minute.

I think one of the reasons I love reading your blog is that you seem to often reflect my worldview. I have no patience at all for people like your FHGW. You obviously have better self control than I do as I am more likely to tell them how ridiculous I find them. You just make them sound humorous. It ain't you that has a problem, it's them.

9 years teaching first grade under my belt and I say: SOME PEOPLE ARE JUST PLAIN NUTS. Trust me.

I don't want to be unkind to FHGW, but I can see why you felt a tad bit annoyed at that meeting :)

Lut C.

Next meeting, bring a big label, write NUTS on it, stick it on FHGW. Fair warning should not be limited to food.

I'd say nuts, but she's probably allergic.

I think she needs to be locked in a room with only a box of twinkies and a 2 litre bottle of diet coke for a day or two. That should straighten her out.

Of course, I am a misanthrope.

Before I got the job I had now I worked as a personal assistant for hire and one of my clients was the other private school in our fair city that also has crazies like you described. I was hired by the powermom in charge of the frigging chess club and had to send out schedules, etc. I had one mother like you are describing who drove me up a wall so much that after I finished the project I 'fired' the client because it was too much hand holding and high mainetenance and my email just didn't have the capacity anymore for literally 40 emails a day about this and that and to make sure so and so's name is properly (mis)spelled with a 'y'.

But of course, I'm the worst kind of misanthrope so don't ask me ;)

No idea, having not experienced it myself, but I know that a friend of mine meets women like this every day at her kid's school, so I say, not a misanthrope, just normally intolerant.

Oh geez, you definitely have your hands full with her. Why do some insist on making it difficult for others, even their own children?

Carrie Jo

Oh jeez. What a fruitcake. But then, I'm a bit of a misanthrope myself.

HILARIOUS, thank you for sharing. She's nuts and I feel bad for her kids.
